About this role

We are inviting applications for a professorial position (Level D/E) from global leaders in creative practice research with an international reputation in their field(s). They will engage in pioneering scholarly work, creative practice, and research that generates significant global and societal impact. Their contributions transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries, addressing some of the world's most critical challenges. Through their creative practice, they continuously explore bold new directions for knowledge and innovation.


Applicants must demonstrate exceptional scholarly accomplishments and be recognized as leading authorities in their field(s). We are looking for candidates who are actively involved in producing peer-reviewed and nationally and internationally acknowledged design and creative work. A strong portfolio of international exhibitions, award-winning designs, and/or notable curatorial experience is essential.


The DBE Creative Practice Professor will lead, coordinate, and deliver DBE’s new Design Practice Research and PhD programs. They will also play a key role in transforming the undergraduate and postgraduate design studio curricula, with a particular focus on fostering transdisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Furthermore, they will lead DBE’s diverse creative disciplines, promoting innovative approaches to practice by leveraging Perth’s distinctive physical and social environments, while producing high-calibre graduates.

1. A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.

2. An outstanding contribution to scholarship in research and teaching and learning.

3. A record of leadership in the discipline(s)/profession at a state, national and international level.

4. Extensive experience and outstanding record of providing supervision to HDR students.

5. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.

6. Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
