About this role

The Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor of Oral Surgery is a member of the School of Medicine and Dentistry’s academic team, and specifically will plan and lead specialist education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conduct research and undertake appropriate administrative duties.

The Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor of Oral Surgery will be a leading authority in their discipline and is expected to exercise a special responsibility in providing academic leadership and in fostering excellence in research, teaching, engagement and professional activities.

They will support the Dean of Dentistry and the Head of School in implementing the School’s strategy as it relates to learning and teaching and research, and will be expected to advance research-informed clinical education and research within the School.

To be eligible for appointment as a Senior Lecturer, applicants are expected to make independent and original contributions to research that have significant impact on the field of expertise.

Applicants eligible for appointment as an Associate Professor will show evidence of original, innovative contributions to the field of expertise, and the drive to expand their sphere of influence through international research and scholarly collaborations.

The successful candidate will build upon Griffith’s already strong program of dental and oral health programs and develop clinical and research partnerships aimed at improving health and community care through the health professions.  In this role the incumbent will make a significant contribution to the development and delivery of dental education with a focus on oral surgery.

Depending on the educational qualifications and professional background of the successful candidate, the successful candidate may be appointed at either Senior Lecturer Level C or Associate Professor Level D.

This position incorporates the full scope of academic responsibilities relevant to the level of appointment. Actual expected responsibilities are applied in accordance with individual work profiles and in consultation with the Academic Supervisor.

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), continuing position based at the Gold Coast campus and it is expected that the successful candidate will be available to attend campus in person as a normal requirement of the role.

As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range

The full time equivalent base salary will be Senior Lecturer Level C range $128,802 - $148,520 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $150,698 - $173,768 per annum.

The full time equivalent base salary will be Associate Professor Level D range $155,087 - $170,859 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $181,452 - $199,905 per annum.

Applicants will possess:

  • A specialist dental qualification and PhD (or equivalent qualification) in an appropriate discipline; and
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
