About This Opportunity
The UQ School of Dentistry has a long and proud tradition of 83 years of strength in dental education and research, and attracts high achieving students nationally and internationally. We opened the Oral Health Centre in 2015, an award-winning building that is the largest and best equipped facility for patient treatment, dental education and research in Australasia. In 2017, the Oral Health Alliance integrated the activities of Metro North Hospital and Health Service Oral Health Services and the UQ School of Dentistry to establish world-class activities in clinical teaching, research and service provision in oral health.
As part of the launch of our new Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program (https://study.uq.edu.au/study-options/programs/doctor-dental-medicine-5763), we are searching for an Associate Professor in Restorative Dentistry and/or Dental Education. A suitably qualified applicant would take on the role of Program Convener of the DMD program. Key responsibilities will include:
- Demonstrate a sustained, skilled, and collegial contribution to teaching and the student experience.
- Drive the ongoing improvement and development of new programs or a significant aspect of a program to meet industry and educational standards.
- Exhibit exemplary design in curricular and assessment practices that contributes to enhanced student learning outcomes.
- Adapt and introduce novel teaching and learning approaches and technologies to inspire students’ participation and achieve enhanced learning outcomes.
- Maintain a record of outstanding contributions to the field and producing quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms as lead contributor.
- Initiate and lead funding initiatives and applications as chief investigator role in applications for significant research funding to support projects and activities.
- Lead the progressing towards transfer of knowledge, technology and practices to research end users through translation, including commercialisation of UQ intellectual property.
- Successfully build and lead a research team, developing and mentor more junior academics and researchers.
- Consistently demonstrate and lead others in relation to the UQ values.
This is a full-time, continuing, teaching and research position. At Academic level D, the base salary will be in the range AUD$154,254 - $169,941, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total package will be up to AUD$180,477 - $198,831 annually.
