About this role

The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at The University of Queensland are seeking a dynamic Professor in Physiotherapy to lead academic initiatives in our renowned Master of Physiotherapy program, with a particular emphasis on sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy. This role is crucial in enhancing UQ's already stellar global reputation in sport-related education, where we are ranked second globally, and especially in light of the upcoming 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games. The successful candidate will contribute to the establishment of a Paralympic Centre of Excellence on campus and engage actively with government and industry to optimise UQ’s impact during this landmark event.

The incumbent will provide exceptional leadership in teaching and research, fostering a collaborative educational environment while maintaining high academic standards. Responsibilities include delivering innovative curriculum design, supervising Higher Degree by Research students, and driving significant research initiatives that yield international recognition. The Professor will also cultivate relationships with industry and community stakeholders, enhancing UQ's standing as a leader in the field of physiotherapy. If you are a distinguished academic with a passion for teaching and research in sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, we invite you to apply and join our vibrant academic community.

UQ and 2032 Olympics and Paralympics

Long before the Olympic torch is lit in Brisbane, UQ is already engaging with the Board of the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, to explore how UQ’s infrastructure, experts, research and multicultural community can contribute to making this the most memorable games. The Board includes a number of prominent UQ alumni including Committee Chair and President, Andrew N Liveris AO, Vice President and former Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, and UQ Associate Professor Sarah Kelly OAM.

An enormous amount of planning and preparation is needed from policy to venues, from athlete preparation to selection, from economic prosperity to sustainability. In many of these areas, UQ has the knowledge, expertise, infrastructure, and capacity to make significant and meaningful contributions.
